                         Physical-space Statistical Analysis System em conjunto com o

                         uso das Pseudo-Temps na gera{\c{c}}{\~a}o da 
                         condi{\c{c}}{\~a}o inicial utilizada para integrar deste modelo. 
                         O uso das Pseudo-Temps busca uma melhor representa{\c{c}}{\~a}o, 
                         por parte do modelo, dos fen{\^o}menos atmosf{\'e}ricos na 
                         Am{\'e}rica do Sul, regi{\~a}o esta que apresenta relativa 
                         escassez de radiossondagens principalmente na Bol{\'{\i}}via, 
                         Paraguai e Peru. Para a coleta das Pseudo-Temps, foram utilizadas 
                         as an{\'a}lises do European Centre for Medium range Weather 
                         Forecast e do National Centers for Environmental Predicton. Os 
                         resultados obtidos nos experimentos realizados com as Pseudo-Temps 
                         foram comparados com as previs{\~o}es sem a inclus{\~a}o de 
                         Pseudo-Temps, com as rean{\'a}lises produzidas com os dados 
                         obtidos do South America Low Level Jet Experiment e com dados de 
                         esta{\c{c}}{\~o}es em superf{\'{\i}}cie sobre a Am{\'e}rica 
                         do Sul. Al{\'e}m disto realizaram-se dois estudos sin{\'o}ticos 
                         apresentando as principais diferen{\c{c}}as ocasionadas com a 
                         inclus{\~a}o dos dados extras. Os resultados obtidos com estas 
                         an{\'a}lises mostraram que a utiliza{\c{c}}{\~a}o das 
                         Pseudo-Temps proporcionou um impacto positivo nas previs{\~o}es 
                         do MCGA. Verificou-se que as principais melhorias se deram abaixo 
                         de 30oS e o prazo {\'u}til das previs{\~o}es apresentou um 
                         aumento significativo. ABSTRACT: Using the data assimilation 
                         system Physical-space Statistical Analysis System with the 
                         Atmospheric Global Circulation Model Pseudo-Temps are used to 
                         generate initial conditions to integrate this model. The use of 
                         Pseudo-Temps aims to improve the model representation of the 
                         atmospheric conditions over South America. In this region there is 
                         a lack of radiossondes observations mainly in Bolivia, Paraguay 
                         and Peru. The Pseudo-Temps were extracted from the European Centre 
                         for Medium range Weather Forecast and from the National Centers 
                         for Environmental Predicton analyses. The obtained results were 
                         compared with forecasts without Pseudo-Temps, with the reanalysis 
                         produced with the South America Low Level Jet Experiment data, and 
                         with observed data from South America. Moreover, two synoptic case 
                         studies were done presenting the main differences due to the 
                         inclusion of the extra data. The results show that there is a 
                         positive impact in the model forecasts due to the use 
                         Pseudo-Temps. It was also verified that the main improvements 
                         occured below 30oS and the forecast range presented a significant 
                         increase.",
