ABSTRACT: Data portals enable data transparency through an intuitive user interface. The Integrated Environmental Data System (SINDA) stores information from sensors in Data Collection platforms (PCD) and in ocean buoys of the Moored Array Research and Prediction project in the Tropical Atlantic (PIRATA). SINDA provides a portal that allows the user to access data based on platform metadata: PCD (ID / state / name) or buoy (ID / name). Then, the user defines the desired data period, with a maximum limit of one year, and the portal makes historical data available in Excel format. However, data needs to be called graphically and metadata as additional information for better understanding. Thus, the objective of this work is to develop an integrated external environmental data portal for PCDs and ocean buoys that allows different ways to present the stations on a map and then the visualization of the station data provided along with its descriptive statistics. The basis of the development was the Flask framework. In the development of the interface that presents the stations on a map, it uses the Javascript language, a Leaflet library and the browser's local storage (localstorage) for a presentation of the platforms on the map. For an interface that allows the selection and visualization of a certain period of data, a Python language and Pandas, NumPy and Bokeh data analysis libraries are used to guarantee the statistical visualization of the data. As a result, the new portal has new possibilities for viewing metadata on a map, facilitating the differentiation of PCDs and buoys, with different icons and different cores for active and inactive platforms. The portal also provides statistical information on the data without downloading them, making it easier to understand and transmitting transparency of the data collected by SINDA. In addition, the portal gives the user an option to view all the map's metadata through a table, where he can search a set of specific platforms by combining search filters to bring up a platform of interest. This study contributes to a better understanding of the data collected by SINDA, ensuring better transparency of open data. |
