The so-called Dipole Pattern is characterized by a north-south interhemispheric gradient in sea surface temperature (SST), due this mode involves spatially coherent SST variations with opposite sign in each hemisphere, between about 5N-25Nand 5S-25S, over the tropical Atlantic Oceano The anomalous SST patterns associated with Atlantic Dipole significantly affect the position and intensity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, and thus exert a considerable influence on the regional climate and rainfall of any continental regions localized in the Americas and Africa (e.g., Northeast Brazil, Sahel and Ghana). In this work is used the composites analyses to investigate the spatial variability of the atmospheric and oceanic characteristics (and its possible relationship) associated with Atlantic Dipole events. The events was selected by temporal series of the SST standardized índices calculated for north and south Atlantic Basins (methodologies report in Servain, 1991).
