%X This paper summarizes the basic procedures used in the quality control of INPEs operational that monitors vegetation fires in satellite images (http://queimadas.cptec.inpe.br) Over 100 images from various polar and geostationary satellites are daily processed for fire pixels in different systems. Program scripts check the actual recording of the images and the generation of subproducts. Visual inspection of each AVHRR/NOAA image is needed for their navigation using control points, and to remove false detections caused by transmission and reception noise. The correspondence of fires in near-simultaneous images of different satellites is also examined to identify navigation errors and algorithm misdetection. Such procedures minimize the product errors for the thousands of registered users of the system.
